These systems (lightning rods, Faraday cages, etc.) protect buildings, facilities, and all types of structures from the destructive impacts of lightning.<\/p><p data-start=\"533\" data-end=\"601\">Lightning protection systems can be classified into four main types:<\/p><h3 data-start=\"603\" data-end=\"624\"><strong data-start=\"607\" data-end=\"624\">Franklin Rods<\/strong><\/h3><p data-start=\"625\" data-end=\"787\">Based on the sharp-point discharge principle that attracts lightning to the rod.<br data-start=\"705\" data-end=\"708\" \/>Due to their limited protection radius, they are no longer commonly used today.<\/p><h3 data-start=\"789\" data-end=\"818\"><strong data-start=\"793\" data-end=\"818\">Active Lightning Rods<\/strong><\/h3><p data-start=\"819\" data-end=\"978\">These systems operate with an early streamer emission (ESE) principle.<br data-start=\"889\" data-end=\"892\" \/>They are widely used due to their easy installation and effective protection coverage.<\/p><h3 data-start=\"980\" data-end=\"1014\"><strong data-start=\"984\" data-end=\"1014\">Radioactive Lightning Rods<\/strong><\/h3><p data-start=\"1015\" data-end=\"1187\">Their production and use have been discontinued due to radiation pollution risks caused by radioactive material and the potential for soil contamination during earthquakes.<\/p><h3 data-start=\"1189\" data-end=\"1217\"><strong data-start=\"1193\" data-end=\"1217\">Faraday Cage Systems<\/strong><\/h3><p data-start=\"1218\" data-end=\"1452\">Consisting of an air-termination system, down conductors, and grounding system installed at defined intervals.<br data-start=\"1328\" data-end=\"1331\" \/>Despite higher installation costs, they provide the <strong data-start=\"1383\" data-end=\"1425\">most effective and reliable protection<\/strong> and are widely used today.<\/p><hr data-start=\"1454\" data-end=\"1457\" \/><h2 data-start=\"1459\" data-end=\"1537\"><strong data-start=\"1462\" data-end=\"1537\">What Is Lightning Protection System Inspection and Why Is It Necessary?<\/strong><\/h2><p data-start=\"1539\" data-end=\"1731\">To ensure the LPS operates reliably and complies fully with relevant regulations, the system must be periodically inspected and measured by certified electrical engineers.
