Column Drilling Machine (Pillar Drill) Inspection
MACHINE AND EQUIPMENT INSPECTION
Column drilling machines, used for drilling various workpieces, perform drilling operations according to the required diameter. Similar in working principle to bench drills, pillar drills are widely used in industrial facilities, factories, and workshops for operations such as drilling, enlarging holes, reaming, tapping, and countersinking. Some of these operations can also be performed automatically depending on the machine’s design.
Inspections of column drilling machines are subject to the “Regulation on Health and Safety Requirements for the Use of Work Equipment.” According to this regulation, the periodic inspection interval for pillar drills is 1 year.
Regulation on Health and Safety Requirements for the Use of Work Equipment
The purpose of this regulation is to define the minimum health and safety requirements that must be followed during the use of work equipment in the workplace. It applies to all workplaces covered under the Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331, dated 20/06/2012.
The regulation is based on Articles 30 and 31 of the Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331, Articles 2 and 12 of the Law No. 3146 on the Organizational Structure and Duties of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, and is aligned with the European Union Directive 2009/104/EC, dated 03/10/2009.
