Crane Inspection
LIFTING AND HANDLING EQUIPMENT
Equipment such as pallet trucks, cranes, platforms, forklifts, hoists, manlifts, stackers, and elevators operate under specific load conditions and therefore must be continuously monitored.
Failure to perform periodic crane inspections, improper use of lifting accessories, or operating defective equipment can lead to serious workplace accidents.
For this reason, conducting periodic inspections of cranes is essential both for ensuring safe working conditions and for fulfilling legal obligations.
1.2 Crane Periodic Inspection Intervals
According to the Regulation on Health and Safety Conditions for the Use of Work Equipment, lifting and handling machines, as well as pressure vessels, must undergo periodic inspections at least once a year, unless otherwise specified in relevant standards.
1.3 Crane Periodic Inspection Regulation
The purpose of this regulation is to define the minimum health and safety requirements that must be followed for the use of work equipment in the workplace.
It applies to all workplaces covered by the Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331.
The regulation is based on Articles 30 and 31 of Law No. 6331, Articles 2 and 21 of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security Law No. 3146, and prepared in parallel with the EU Directive 2009/104/EC dated 3/10/2009.
This regulatory framework ensures that all lifting equipment, including cranes, is inspected properly to prevent risks and ensure safe operation.
